At Kids' News Ohio, we want to announce the launch of our 5th grade 9/11 Project . This year, we as a nation will remember the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and those who died on that terrible day. At Kids' News Ohio, we are trying to connect with as many 5th grade students as we can to find out what they know about 9/11. Why 5thgraders? Because 5th graders this year were born between 2000 and 2001. They are the first class of students that were born post 9/11 . We at Kids' News Ohio want to find out from 5th graders the answers to three questions.
- In a few sentences, what do you know about 9/11?
- How old were you when you first heard about 9/11?
- Talk with someone 20 years or older, and let us know how growing up after 9/11 has been different for you compared to kids who were in school before 9/11?
Please be sure to send in your responses by 9/9/2011. We plan to compile the answers and publish selected comments on the site, starting on 9/11/11. You may post comments to this blog or email us at
kidsnewsohio@gmail.com
Be sure you have your parents' permission before sending in. All comments sent in will be reviewed for possible publishing. Submissions will be published with the student's first name only. Let us know what grade you are in. If you want your comments to be submitted anonymously, please state this in your response.
Teachers, we would like to hear from you and your classes. I plan to post an article each week about a topic in the news. I would like to hear from you, if you have article suggestions or questions.
Till next week,
RJ
