5th graders Thoughts on 9/11 part 5

Kate - I was four years old when I first heard about 9/11. A lot of things changed after that like safety at schools and airports were more strict.

Jayden - I do not know much about 9/11. I think I was 5 when I first heard someone say something about 9/11. I asked my mom how things were different when she was little and she said that transportation has changed. No one had to be body scanned and now before boarding a plane .

Madeyln - When I first heard about 9/11 I was 5 years old. When my dad went to school they did'nt have a lock down like we have today . So there are some different things we do today.

Kayla - I think I was 7 or 8 years old. 3. I interviewed my mom for the 9/11 project. When she was in school all of the doors where unlocked and they did not have lockdown drills. They did not have to worry about weapons in the school . That is why school is different now.

Lacey - I was 9 months old. When 9/11 happened we were at the fairgrouds at 8:30A.M. The whole fairgrounds was quiet and it was a dead stop.

Mackenzie - I was 5 years old when I heard about 9/11. I talked to my mom about when she was in school and the changes that happened after 9/11. When she was in school, she did not do lock downs when she was in school. But now we always have lock downs.

Allen – I was 6 when I heard about 9/11. Since 9/11 people don't trust others anymore.

Sarah M - I was six months old when it happened and I knew about it but I never really understood it until first grade. I asked my mom about 9/11 and she said; it was scary because there was fear and uncertainty.

This year we will be decorating our lawn with 10 American flags to
remember the 10th anniversary of this event.

The people that did this thought they could bring America to its
knees. Instead, this event created a deeper sense of community, faith
and patriotism.

Kayla – I was 7 years old. There is more security. We were at war, and a lot of people died fighting for our country. I will read a book about 9/11.

C.B. – I was 4 1/2 when I heard about 9/11. My classroom helper said the security increased in airports, and that Americans came together and said “We will not stand for terrorist attacks”.
9/11 makes me fee sad for those who lost loved ones that day.

Caleb – I first heard about 9/11 when I was four when my family went to a parade. It was a funeral parade. When you fly you have to be scanned to make sure you don't have a knife or a gun. We always fly our flag.
